Synopsis: In 1942, frail but courageous Steve Rogers volunteers for an experimental program that turns him into a super-soldier. As Captain America, he leads the fight against the Nazi splinter group Hydra, led by the power-hungry Johann Schmidt (the Red Skull), who wields an otherworldly artifact called the Tesseract. With his team the Howling Commandos, Rogers battles Hydra across Europe to stop Schmidt from using the Tesseract to conquer the world. In a final confrontation, he crashes a Hydra plane into the Arctic to prevent it from destroying major cities, sacrificing himself and being frozen in ice for nearly 70 years. He is eventually found and awakened in the modern world, where he must adapt to a new era and join the fight against emerging threats.
